Product feed ads
Also known as: ChatGPT shopping ads · OpenAI feed ads
ChatGPT ad format launched June 2026: a merchant uploads a Google Shopping-format catalog and ChatGPT auto-generates sponsored product placements matched to shopping conversations.
Product feed ads are the catalog-native format in OpenAI's Ads Manager. Instead of writing individual ads, a retailer uploads a product feed (Tools → Feeds) in the same structured format used for Google Shopping, and the system generates sponsored product units from titles, images, prices, and attributes - matched to conversational shopping intent.
The gates: a minimum of 100 SKUs, a ceiling of one million, and data quality. Thin or messy feeds are excluded from the channel entirely, which makes catalog hygiene a paid-media prerequisite, not just an organic one.
OpenAI has said feed ads proved among the most effective formats in the ads beta. For merchants already maintaining a clean Google Shopping feed, entry is an afternoon of work; for everyone else, the feed cleanup comes first - and pays off on the organic shopping layer at the same time.
