GEO · ANSWER ENGINE OPTIMIZATION
Answer Engine Optimization: own the direct answer to the question buyers actually ask.
AEO is the part of GEO aimed squarely at direct-answer formats - the summary above the results, the one-shot reply, the assistant that names a single product. It rewards precision over volume.
Where broader GEO builds the conditions for a model to trust you, AEO is the sharp end: structuring a specific, checkable answer to a specific question so cleanly that the engine prefers to quote you over paraphrasing someone else.
What the work is
Question mapping
The real questions buyers ask in your category, taken from panel data rather than from a keyword tool's guess at phrasing.
Answer-first page structure
A definitive answer in the opening lines, supported by evidence beneath it — the shape extraction actually favours.
Schema and machine-readability
FAQ, Product, and Article markup so the answer can be lifted without ambiguity about what it refers to.
What this is not
AEO is not a content-volume play. Publishing more posts against questions nobody asks moves nothing — we have the data on our own site to prove it.
Deliverables
- Question panel built from live buyer prompts
- Answer-first rewrites of the pages closest to winning
- Schema implementation and validation
- Citation tracking per question, not per keyword
The rest of GEO
GEO overview
How the three pillars fit together.
On-Page GEO
Most catalogs fail here before anything else.
Off-Page GEO
This is where most brands are weakest and where the surfaces are most consistent: the sources AI cites for buying decisions are rarely brand-owned.
Digital PR & Authority
Authority is the slowest pillar and the one competitors cannot copy.
Questions
What is answer engine optimization?
AEO is optimising so an engine quotes your answer directly in response to a specific question, rather than listing your page among options. It focuses on direct-answer surfaces such as AI Overviews and assistant replies.
Is AEO just SEO with a new name?
No. It shares crawlability and content-quality foundations, but the unit of competition is a question rather than a keyword, and success is being quoted rather than being ranked. Pages that rank well routinely fail to be quoted.
Should I do AEO or GEO?
Both, and in practice one programme delivers them. GEO builds the trust and corroboration; AEO sharpens specific answers. We run them together and report on both.
