Reddit Monitoring Tools, Ranked by What AI Assistants Say
Fourteen tools, measured across 18 live AI answers on six engines in three markets. Syften leads on frequency, Brandwatch and Brand24 follow, and the best-known name in the category carries the worst sentiment of the set. Plus the job none of them are built for: telling you whether a Reddit thread produced an AI citation.

Reddit monitoring tools track mentions of your brand across subreddits and alert you to them. Fourteen were named when we put the buying question to six AI assistants in three markets. Here is what they said, what each tool is actually for, and the job none of them do.
Why this matters more than it did
Reddit monitoring used to be a reputation task: find the angry thread, reply before it spreads. That is still worth doing, and it is no longer the main reason.
In our AI-visibility tracking - 12,849 citations across 1,950 answers, five engines, three markets, the 90 days to 2026-09-24 - reddit.com is the most-cited domain of 2,269, with 439 citations appearing in 243 separate answers. It leads semrush.com at 335. We covered the full picture, including the parts that cut against the hype, in why AI search engines cite Reddit so often.
Which means the threads you are monitoring are also the threads an assistant may read before recommending someone in your category. That raises the stakes on knowing they exist.
The measured ranking
On 2026-09-16 we asked six assistants - ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Google AI Mode and Grok - "best Reddit monitoring tools for brands in 2026", in the US, UK and India. Eighteen answers, fourteen distinct tools named.
| Tool | Mentions | Share of voice | Avg position | Net sentiment |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Syften | 14 | 10.07% | 3.64 | 76.79 |
| Brandwatch | 12 | 8.63% | 3.75 | 77.08 |
| Brand24 | 11 | 7.91% | 3.82 | 72.73 |
| F5Bot | 11 | 7.91% | 4.36 | 68.18 |
| Awario | 8 | 5.76% | 6.00 | 65.62 |
| Meltwater | 7 | 5.04% | 5.29 | 67.86 |
| Sprout Social | 6 | 4.32% | 5.33 | 70.83 |
| Talkwalker | 6 | 4.32% | 8.67 | 66.67 |
| Reddit (own tools) | 6 | 4.32% | 9.50 | 54.17 |
| GummySearch | 6 | 4.32% | 7.17 | 25.00 |
| Threadlytics | 5 | 3.60% | 3.00 | 75.00 |
| Sprinklr | 5 | 3.60% | 6.00 | 65.00 |
| Mention | 3 | 2.16% | 6.00 | 50.00 |
| Reddinbox | 3 | 2.16% | 5.00 | 75.00 |
How to read this. Mentions and share of voice measure how often a tool gets named. Average position measures how early in the answer it appears. Net sentiment is how favourably the assistants characterise it. None of these is a product review: frequency mostly reflects how much comparison content exists about a tool, which rewards incumbency. Read it as market position in AI answers, which is a different and increasingly commercial thing.
Three things in that table worth pausing on
Being named often and being named first are different. Threadlytics held the best average position at 3.00 on only 5 mentions. Syften, with nearly three times the mentions, sat at 3.64. A newer tool can lead the answer when it does appear while appearing in fewer answers overall. If you are the newer tool, those two metrics need separate strategies.
GummySearch is the anomaly. It is the most-searched name in this category by a distance, and it carried the lowest net sentiment in the set at 25 against a field between 50 and 77. Six mentions is a small sample and we would not make a purchase decision on it. But a brand whose product is well known and whose AI characterisation is drifting is exactly the situation that a visibility tracker catches and a listening tool does not, because the sentiment is not in a Reddit thread, it is in the answer about the Reddit threads.
Reddit's own tooling places tenth on position. At an average position of 9.50, assistants mention it late when they mention it. The platform is not the default answer to monitoring the platform.
What each one is for
We have grouped these by job rather than ranked them, because the ranking above already exists and the job is what actually decides your shortlist. Feature and pricing detail changes constantly, so check each vendor's own site before buying; what follows is category position, not a spec sheet.
Free keyword alerting
- F5Bot - emails you when your keywords appear on Reddit and Hacker News. Named in 11 of 18 answers, which is remarkable for a free tool with no marketing budget, and tells you something about how much organic recommendation it has earned.
Reddit-native alerting and discovery
- Syften - the most-named tool in the run. Positioned on real-time alerting across forums including Reddit, and it publishes the "13 Best Reddit Monitoring Tools" roundup that ranks third organically for
reddit monitoringin the US. Some of its AI-answer presence is likely earned by publishing the comparison rather than by being in it, which is a pattern worth noting if you are choosing how to spend your own content budget. - GummySearch - built specifically for subreddit audience research rather than general listening. The category's best-known name by search volume.
- Threadlytics, Reddinbox - smaller, Reddit-specific entrants. Both punched above their mention count on position.
Full social listening suites
- Brandwatch, Brand24, Awario, Meltwater, Sprout Social, Talkwalker, Sprinklr, Mention - general listening platforms that cover Reddit alongside every other social surface, with sentiment, reporting and team workflow. Brandwatch and Brand24 are both top-four by mentions and both rank on page one organically for
reddit monitoring. Choose from this group if Reddit is one channel in a wider programme rather than the whole job.
The monitoring layer we run
- Asva AI - our sister company, and the reason we can publish the numbers in this article. It tracks brand mentions, sentiment and citations inside AI answers themselves, including which Reddit threads the engines cite for a category. It was named in zero of the 18 answers above, which we are stating plainly rather than quietly omitting from our own list. The tools at the top of that question have years of published comparison content behind them; Asva does not yet. Disclosure noted, judge it on the category fit rather than on our say-so: asvaai.com.
The job none of them are built for
Every tool above answers one question well: who mentioned us on Reddit.
None of them answers the question that now follows it: did that thread change what an assistant says about us.
That is a genuinely different measurement and it needs different machinery. You need a fixed set of your category's buying prompts, repeat runs against them because answers vary between runs, the citation graph behind each answer, and a way to see whether Reddit URLs entered or left it. Alerting on a thread tells you it exists. It cannot tell you whether the engines read it.
We are not claiming the listening tools should do this. They are built for a different job and they do it well. We are saying that if the reason you are monitoring Reddit in 2026 is AI visibility, then you need the second measurement too, and buying only the first leaves you reporting activity rather than outcome.
How to choose
- Alerting or analysis? If you need to know within the hour that someone named you, a free alerting tool is enough and the suites are overkill. If you need sentiment trends and board reporting, the reverse.
- Reddit only, or everything? Reddit-native tools go deeper on subreddit structure. Listening suites go wider and cost more.
- Do you need the citation layer? If the point is AI visibility rather than reputation management, monitoring alone will not close the loop. Pair it with something that tracks citations.
- Check the vendor's own AI presence. Half the tools above are cited in AI answers about their own category; half are not. It is a fair proxy for how much independent writing exists about a product before you commit to it.
Reddit monitoring tells you what is being said. Citation Rank tells you whether the engines are repeating it. If you want to see the citation picture for your own category first, that is the place to start.
Methodology. Answers captured 2026-09-16 with Asva AI across ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Google AI Mode and Grok, regions US, UK and India, on the prompt "Best Reddit monitoring tools for brands in 2026". Eighteen answers, fourteen distinct tools named. Share of voice is each tool's share of all brand mentions in those answers; average position is the mean rank within the answer; net sentiment is our engine's sentiment read, scored per mention. Citation-corpus figures cover the 90 days to 2026-09-24: 1,950 answers, 12,849 citations, 2,269 distinct domains. Organic SERP positions are US, top 10, checked 2026-09-23. Sample sizes per tool are small and AI answers vary between runs, so treat every per-tool figure as a snapshot.
FAQ
There is no single best. On frequency in AI answers, assistants named Syften most often (14 of 18 answers), then Brandwatch (12), Brand24 (11) and F5Bot (11). F5Bot is free and does keyword alerting; the enterprise suites do sentiment and reporting at a much higher price. Match the tool to whether you need alerting, analysis, or citation tracking.
F5Bot is the free option most frequently named in our run, at 11 mentions across 18 answers. It emails you when your keywords appear. It does not do sentiment, reporting or citation tracking, which is the trade for free.
Set keyword alerts on your brand name, product names and common misspellings, then add your competitors so you can see share. A free alerting tool covers the basics. Sentiment and trend analysis need a paid listening suite. Tracking whether those threads become AI citations needs a different category of tool again.
It is the necessary first step, not the outcome. Monitoring tells you what exists on Reddit. It does not tell you which of those threads the engines are citing, which is a separate measurement against tracked prompts and a citation graph.
Alerting should be continuous - threads move fast and a reply two weeks later reads as damage control. The analysis pass is better monthly, alongside whatever you use to track citations, so you can see whether Reddit activity and AI answers move together.

Why AI Search Engines Cite Reddit So Often
Across 3,750 tracked AI answers on five engines in three markets, reddit.com is the most-cited domain we measure - 439 citations in the AI-visibility corpus, appearing in more separate answers than any other source. But community content is only about 5% of all citations. Reddit is not most of the evidence; it is the most concentrated single piece of it. Here is the measured picture, the Google-versus-OpenAI split nobody talks about, and what it means for a brand.

How to Track Your Brand Mentions in ChatGPT
Before the rebrand, the two highest-demand queries reaching our old site were 'chatgpt brand tracker' and 'chatgpt visibility tracker' - and we had no page answering them. This is that page: the manual method, the math on why 20 prompts a month tells you nothing, and the metrics that make ChatGPT presence a number you can manage.
